Hengaw – Thursday, June 18, 2026
Sobhan Sanchouli, a border guard from Zabol, was killed after triggering a landmine planted by IRGC forces along the Saravan border in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
Information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights shows that the incident occurred on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, while Sanchouli, a member of Iran's border guard forces, was patrolling near his unit's border outpost. The fatal explosion marks another casualty linked to the IRGC's continued use of landmines in border areas without adequate warning signs or safety measures.
According to informed sources, Sanchouli struck a defensive landmine planted by the IRGC while monitoring the area surrounding his post.
The Social Affairs Department of the Sistan and Baluchestan Border Guard Command stated that Sanchouli suffered severe injuries to both legs, including traumatic amputation and extensive bleeding, and died at the scene.
