Baloch fuel carrier killed in landmine explosion in Saravan
Hengaw – Sunday, June 14, 2026
A Baloch sukhtbar (fuel carrier), Gohram Gamshadzehi, was killed in a landmine explosion in Saravan, in another deadly incident linked to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s ongoing policy of planting landmines in border areas.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Gohram Gamshadzehi, a 45-year-old married man and father of seven from the Goshat district of Saravan County, was killed in a landmine explosion while traveling along a border route on the evening of Thursday, June 11, 2026.
According to Halvash, Gamshadzehi was driving along a secondary border route in the Esfandak area of Saravan when his vehicle struck a landmine allegedly planted by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), causing a powerful explosion that killed him instantly.
Due to the militarized nature of the area and the lack of public notification, his body remained undiscovered for two days before being found by local residents and villagers searching the area.
For years, the IRGC and Iranian border forces have planted landmines across extensive border and tribal regions, as well as routes used by sukhtbars in Sistan and Baluchestan Province and desert areas bordering Kerman Province, citing security concerns. These hazardous measures are carried out without warning signs, fencing, or other safety precautions, resulting in the deaths of multiple civilians each year.
