Peshawa Aqapour re-arrested in Bukan; family assaulted during arrest

Iranian authorities have re-arrested Peshawa Aqapour, a former detainee of the Woman, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) protests, in the city of Bukan. Government forces used violence during the arrest and assaulted members of his family, leaving his father with broken ribs.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Aqapour, a 22-year-old resident of Bukan, has been held in detention for ten days with no information available about his whereabouts or condition. Iranian government forces arrested him on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
A source close to Aqapour’s family told Hengaw that he was severely beaten at the time of his arrest. The same source added that government forces also attacked his father, who sustained fractured ribs during the incident.
Peshawa Aqapour was previously arrested after being summoned to the Intelligence Office in Bukan during the Woman, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) protests. The arrest took place on Saturday, November 5, 2022, and he was subjected to severe beatings before being released some time later.
