Five law enforcement personnel killed in armed attack in Sistan and Baluchestan

At least five members of Iran’s law enforcement forces were killed in an armed attack in Taftan County, Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

Information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights indicates that on Monday, March 16, 2026, a patrol unit of Iranian law enforcement forces came under fire from unidentified armed assailants in the vicinity of Taftan County.

In a statement carried by state-affiliated media, the information center of the provincial police command confirmed that five members of the law enforcement forces were killed in the incident. The statement also claimed that a civilian lost their life during the exchange of fire.

Official sources have not disclosed the identities of the killed personnel or provided further details regarding possible injuries. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
