IRGC member and his wife killed in armed attack in Saravan

An armed attack in Saravan County, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, has left a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Amirhossein Arbabi, and his wife, Fatemeh Bamaripour, dead.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Amirhossein Arbabi, an IRGC member from Zabol, was shot and killed on the evening of Monday, June 29, 2026, when unidentified armed assailants opened fire on his private vehicle as it was leaving the IRGC headquarters in Saravan.
Fatemeh Bamaripour, Arbabi’s wife, who was also inside the vehicle at the time of the attack, sustained critical injuries. She died in the early hours of Tuesday after being transferred to a medical facility.
Iranian state-affiliated media outlets, including Tasnim News Agency, attributed the attack to “groups affiliated with foreign governments.” However, no armed opposition group has officially claimed responsibility for the attack.
