Hengaw – Thursday, July 30, 2026
Two members of Iran's security forces were killed and several others wounded in two separate armed attacks by unidentified gunmen in Iranshahr, Sistan and Baluchestan province.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, unidentified gunmen killed Mehran Salarzadeh, a native of Zabol, at around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, on Khatam al-Anbiya 5 Street in Iranshahr.
Although the Sistan and Baluchestan Provincial Police Information Center identified Salarzadeh as a first lieutenant in the Law Enforcement Command, informed sources and people close to him confirmed that he was in fact the deputy head of the Intelligence Department in Iranshahr and a senior security official in the region.
In a separate attack at around 1:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, gunmen travelling in a vehicle opened fire on security forces stationed at the Abolfazl Mosque checkpoint on the Iranshahr–Delgan road. The attack killed Sergeant First Class Meysam Karami Qalateh Teki, a native of Kord city, and wounded several other members of Iran's security forces.
No group has claimed responsibility for either attack.
