At least three Iranian armed forces killed in armed attack in Saravan

At least three members of Iranian forces were killed in an armed attack in the city of Saravan, in Sistan and Baluchestan province.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, unidentified gunmen opened fire on a vehicle carrying special forces units on April 16, 2026.

The three personnel killed in the attack have been identified as Second Lieutenant Mehdi Nasiri Sadeh, First Sergeant Ahmad Sheikhi and First Sergeant Mohammadreza Shaqouzai.

Sources said the forces were targeted while on duty and died after being struck by bullets.

Iranian state media, including Fars News Agency, citing the provincial police information center, said efforts were underway to identify and arrest those responsible.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
