Ayoub Shiri arrested in Tabriz, fate remains unknown

Based on information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Iranian authorities arrested Ayoub Shiri, a civil activist from Tabriz, on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in the city of Tabriz.
Informed sources stated that despite repeated inquiries by Shiri’s family and visits to security and judicial institutions in Tabriz, no clear information has been provided about the reasons for his arrest, the charges against him, or his place of detention.
Ayoub Shiri had previously been arrested, interrogated, and convicted by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran due to his civil activities.
