Hengaw – Friday, June 26, 2026
The Iranian Judiciary has sentenced five labor, teachers' union, and civil activists from Ahvaz to a combined 15 years of suspended imprisonment and imposed two-year travel bans on each, as part of its continuing crackdown on labor and civil activism.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the sentences were recently issued by Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court in Ahvaz and formally notified to the activists.
Under the ruling, Mohammadzaman Kamrava, Manizheh Afshari, Maryam Zalkinezhad, Kovsar Mombini, and Ahmadreza Nouchian were each sentenced to three years of suspended imprisonment. The court also imposed a two-year ban on leaving the country on each of them as a supplementary punishment.
The Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers' Trade Associations announced the sentences but did not disclose the charges brought against the five activists.
