Following the explosion of ammunition left over from the Iran-Iraq war, Mohsen Hosseini, a resident of the Qalawari village of Sarpol-e Zahab, died due to severe injuries.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, Mohsen Hosseini, 34, died due to the explosion of a grenade in his house on Sunday, February 12, 2023.
According to an informed source, Mohsen Hosseini had found this grenade and taken it home in a not-cleared Iran-Iraq war zone. The body of the citizen has been taken to forensic medicine.
It should be noted that in Sarpol-e Zahab and other border cities, dozens of citizens are injured and killed every year due to the explosion of ammunition and explosives left over from the 8-year Iran-Iraq war.
According to the Statistics and Documents Center of the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at least 36 citizens were victims of mine and ammunition explosions in the provinces of Ilam, Kermanshah, Kurdistan (Sanandaj), and West Azerbaijan (Urmia) in 2022, with six of them dying.
