The Bukan Criminal Court has sentenced Hashem Saedi, the father of Sarina Saedi, a teenager killed during protests in Sanandaj, to six and a half months in prison and 40 lashes.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organisation for Human Rights, Branch 101 of the Bukan Criminal Court sentenced Hashem Saedi, a Sanandaj resident and father of Sarina Saedi, to six and a half months in prison and forty lashes on the charge of "disturbing public order".
On July 3, 2023, the stated verdict was formally delivered to Hashem Saedi.
While returning from the commemoration ceremony for the victims of the popular resistance in the cities of Saqqez and Bukan on the evening of Friday, June 9, 2023, Hashem Saedi was detained by the government forces and taken to the central prison of Bukan along with a group of families of the victims of the popular resistance in Sanandaj, Divandarreh, and Dehgolan.
On Friday, June 16, 2023, he was released from Bukan prison after posting bail.
It should be highlighted that while in detention, Hashem Saedi was denied access to a chosen attorney, family visits, and other fundamental rights.
Sarina Saedi, the 16-year-old daughter of Hashem Saedi, died in Sanandaj's Tohid Hospital on October 25 of last year as a result of multiple government baton blows to the victim's head during the Jin, Jiyan, and Azadi movements in this city.
