At least seven Kurdish environmental activists from Marivan have been injured as a result of a landmine explosion while trying to control and contain the fire in the forests around Marivan.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at around noon on Friday, July 21, 2023, at least seven Kurdish environmental activists from Marivan, five of whom have been identified as Barzan Pirouzi, Madeh Nikpey, Burhan Makki, Aram Keyvan, and Sivan Nikpey, were injured by landmines while trying to control and extinguish the fires in the "Kani Miran" forests in Marivan.
According to Hengaw’s sources, these seven activists were transferred to Bo-Ali Hospital in Marivan after being injured, and their physical condition is said to be stable.
The forests around Marivan have been intentionally set on fire by IRGC forced in five areas since Thursday, July 20, and the efforts of local people and environmental activists to control this fire have been unsuccessful.
