Oshnovieh: Release of Detainees Ehsan Mohammadi and Shaho Barham from the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi Movement

After enduring approximately one year and one month of detention, 16-year-old Ehsan Mohammadi, a resident of Oshnovieh (Shino), and 20-year-old Shaho Barham have been released on bail. Both individuals were apprehended during  the Women, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) movement.

According to reports obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Ehsan Mohammadi, aged 16 and hailing from Oshnovieh, was temporarily released from Urmia Correctional Center on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. This release occurred under the condition of posting a one-billion-toman bail, pending the conclusion of his trial.

In April 2023, Ehsan Mohammadi faced charges in Urmia's Third Branch of the Revolutionary Court, including "disturbance of public order through protest, incitement, and destruction of public property" and "Moharebe (waging war against God)." Subsequently, his case was referred to the Special Juvenile Crimes Criminal Court.

Ehsan Mohammadi, aged 16, had been apprehended on October 13, 2022, after being summoned to the Intelligence Department of Oshnovieh and subsequently transferred to Urmia.

Similarly, on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, another Oshnovieh resident, Shaho Barham, was temporarily released from Urmia prison on bail worth one billion tomans, pending the conclusion of legal proceedings.

Shaho Barham was arrested by security forces on October 11, 2022, during the Women, Life, Freedom movement in Oshnovieh. He was then transferred to one of the security detention centers in Urmia and later to Urmia prison.
