Mohammad Mahmoudi, a 16-year-old Kurdish boy from Javanroud, has been arrested for expressing joy after the defeat of the Iranian national football team by the national team of Qatar.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the morning of Wednesday, February 14, 2024, the Iranian Intelligence Forces in Javanroud, arrested Mohammad Mahmoudi, a 16-year-old child, and transferred him to an undisclosed location.
According to a source close to Mahmoudi's family, the Iranian Intelligence Forces stormed the teenager’s workplace in a shop and arrested him by resorting to violence.
The Iranian security agencies have told the Mahmoudi family that their son was arrested and transferred to one of the security detention centers in Kermanshah due to expressing joy after the defeat of the Iranian national football team by the Qatar national team.
Hengaw has been informed that at least ten Kurdish children have been arrested in the city of Javanroud for the same reason, and so far, the identities of two of them, 17-year-old Mohammad Yousefi and 16-year-old Mohammad Mahmoudi, have been clarified.
