Kurdish Kolbar severely injured by gunfire from Iran Border Guards

Abdullah Maroufi, a kolbar from Piranshahr, was critically injured by direct gunfire from Iranian Border Guards while transporting goods in the mountainous border region of Piranshahr.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the evening of Wednesday, December 11, 2024, Border Guards opened fire on several Kolbars in the “Seh Choman” border heights of Piranshahr. As a result, Abdullah Maroufi, a resident of the village of "Gazgaska" in the Piranshahr district, was critically injured. 

Border Guards opened fire without prior warning, using Kalashnikov rifles.

Maroufi was struck by three bullets in the abdomen, leg, and hand. After being shot, he was rushed to the newly established Piranshahr Hospital (Qasem Soleimani Hospital), where he underwent surgery.

Abdullah Maroufi is married and the father of two children.
