During a pursuit by Iranian government forces, Sahand Kargar, a Kurdish resident of Sahneh, Kermanshah province, residing in Vahdat town, Karaj, was killed, and a close relative named Payman was severely wounded.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Saturday, March 23, 2024, Iranian police officers opened fire on a vehicle being pursued, resulting in the death of Sahand Kargar, aged 25, from Sahneh. The incident occurred on Pasgah Boulevard in Karaj, where police forces targeted the vehicle with machine gunfire, fatally striking Sahand Kargar in the head.

An informed source revealed that Payman, whose last name remains unknown, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and is currently receiving medical treatment.

Hengaw has learned that police forces mistakenly targeted these two Kurdish individuals under the assumption that they were involved in drug trafficking.
