Mine Explosion Causes Three Casualties in the Heights of Kurdistan, Iran

As a result of a mine explosion in the border heights of the Kelashin Mountains located in the Oshnavieh (Shno) county, one Kurdish man identified as Esmail Azouzmeh lost his life, and two other Kurdish individuals named Seyyed Hemn Mousavi and Seyyed Hadi Mousavi were also injured.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at noon on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, due to the explosion of a mine in the border heights of the Kelashin Mountains, Esmail Azouzmeh, 37 years old and a resident of the village of "Mirabad" in Oshnavieh, lost his life.

According to Hengaw sources, two brothers from same village named Seyyed Hemn Mousavi, 27 years old and Seyyed Hadi Mousavi, 26 years old were severely injured in the same incident and transferred to medical centers for treatment. These individuals had gone to the Kelashin heights to collect springtime medicinal herbs.

In recent years, the Revolutionary Guards, under the pretext of countering Kurdish opposition parties, have planted new mines in the Kelashin heights, and Hengaw had previously issued warnings about this.
