A Soldier Loses Limb Due to Mine Explosion in Borders of West Azerbaijan, Iran

A border guard soldier lost a limb due to a mine explosion left over from the Iran-Iraq war in the border areas of Piranshahr, West Azerbaijan Province.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, a soldier lost a foot from the ankle due to a mine explosion in the border areas of Piranshahr.

As of the time of this report, the identity of the injured soldier is not available, and his condition after being transferred to medical centers remains unclear.

In a related incident on Tuesday, May 21, an individual named Esmail Azouzmeh, 37 years old and from the village of "Mirabad" in Oshnavieh, lost his life due to a mine explosion in the border heights of Mount Kelashin.

Additionally, in that incident, two brothers named Seyed Heyman Mousavi, 27 years old, and Seyed Hadi Mousavi, 26 years old, both from "Mirabad" in Oshnavieh, were severely injured.
