Two Kurdish Healthcare Workers Arrested by Iranian Security Agencies, Whereabouts Unknown

Taher Aria and Seyed Kamal Ahmend, two Kurdish healthcare workers from Mahabad’s emergency services, have been arrested by security forces of Islamic Republic of Iran. Their whereabouts remain unknown.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, Taher Aria, 47, the director of Mahabad’s Emergency Unit 115, and Seyed Kamal Ahmend, 35, a staff member of the same unit, were arrested by Intelligence agents in Mahabad and transferred to an undisclosed location.
Despite a week having passed since their arrest, no information about their fate has been made available, and the families’ efforts to obtain details about their situation have been unsuccessful.
Furthermore, no specific information regarding the reasons for their detention or the charges against these two Kurdish men has been released.
