Kurdish trader from Bukan sentenced to six months in prison

Hiwa Bahin, a Kurdish trader from Bukan who was arrested last fall, has been sentenced to six months in prison by the judicial-security authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch 101 of the Bukan Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Fakhri, issued the sentence against 41-year-old Hiwa Bahin on charges of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Bahin was originally summoned to the Bukan Intelligence Office and arrested on Sunday, November 24, 2024. He was temporarily released on bail of 600 million tomans on Sunday, December 1, 2024, pending the outcome of legal proceedings.
