Political activist arrested to serve prison sentence in Isfahan

Political activist, Ali Moeini, has been arrested to serve his six-month prison sentence and transferred to Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan. He was previously sentenced by the judiciary to six months in prison, along with five years of suspended imprisonment.
According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Thursday, February 6, 2025, Ali Moeini, a resident of Isfahan, was taken into custody to begin his sentence.
Moeini had been convicted on charges of “inciting people to war and violence”, for which he received a five-year prison sentence, and “propaganda against the Islamic Republic”, for which he was sentenced to one year in prison.
Of this prison sentence, Ali Moeini serves six months in jail, while the remainder of his sentence has been suspended for five years.
As part of his supplementary punishment, he was also subjected to a two-year travel ban, prohibiting him from leaving Iran, and the permanent confiscation of his seized belongings, including his mobile phone and digital devices.
Moeini was initially arrested on August 10, 2024, in Isfahan. Following his detention, security forces confiscated some of his personal belongings, as well as his wife’s belongings. After spending over two months in detention, he was released on bail on October 9, 2024.
Ali Moeini has previously faced judicial persecution and security pressures due to his political activities.
