Six prisoners executed in various prisons across Iran

The death sentences of six prisoners, including two Turks, one Gilak, and one Lor, were carried out this week in separate prisons across Iran. Those executed were identified as Naqi Shahi, Vali-Karam Jaberi, Reza Abbasi, Morteza Sayvand, Mostafa Arzhangi, and Saman Ghasemi. They had previously been convicted on charges of murder or drug-related offenses in separate cases.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, 37-year-old Naqi Shahi, a Turkish prisoner from a village near Tabriz, was executed in Tabriz Central Prison after three years in detention on murder charges.
On the same day, the death sentence of Vali-Karam Jaberi, convicted on drug-related charges, was carried out in Qazvin Central Prison.
Also on Wednesday, two prisoners were executed in Isfahan’s Dastgerd Prison: Morteza Sayvand, a 35-year-old Lor from Khorramabad, convicted of murder and imprisoned for five years, and Reza Abbasi, 40, from Najafabad, Isfahan, convicted on drug charges three years ago.
Separately, on Tuesday, August 19, Mostafa Arzhangi, a 28-year-old Turkish prisoner from Ardabil, was executed in Ardabil Prison. He had been arrested four years ago on murder charges stemming from a street altercation.
Earlier, on Monday, August 18, Saman Ghasemi, a Gilak prisoner from Amol, Mazandaran Province, was executed in Amol Prison. He had been arrested four years ago on murder charges.
The executions of these six prisoners have not been announced by Iranian state media, including outlets affiliated with the judiciary.
