Father of two, kolbar Qasem Azizi, killed by border forces in Baneh

Qasem Azizi, 47, a kolbar from Baneh and father of two, was killed when forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s border regiment opened fire on a group of kolbars in the border area of the county.

According to a video report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the incident occurred on Thursday, September 25, 2025, when Azizi and several other kolbars abandoned their loads in the mountains as border guards approached and were taken into custody.

The guards falsely told them they were free to leave but shortly afterward opened fire from a distance of about 50 meters. A bullet struck Azizi in the left shoulder, killing him instantly.

A source familiar with the case reported that he was killed near the village of Belasan, a rural district of Baneh, and that his body was transferred to Salah al-Din Ayoubi Hospital in the city.
