Former Kurdish political prisoner Fardin Moloudi sentenced to five years in prison
Hengaw – Friday, November 28, 2025
Fardin Moloudi, a former Kurdish political prisoner from Sanandaj and one of those arrested in the aftermath of the recent 12-day war between Iran and Israel, has been sentenced to five years in prison by the Iranian judiciary. Moloudi was among many people detained during the mass arrests that followed the conflict.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Moloudi, 36, was sentenced by Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Mostafa Azizi, on the charge of “assembly and collusion against national security.”
The sentence comes despite the fact that Moloudi has already spent five months in detention. Sources say he suffers from health issues and is physically unable to endure a long-term prison term.
Moloudi was arrested in Sanandaj on June 28, 2025, during a wave of mass detentions carried out by agents of the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) following the 12-day war. He was later transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison.
Moloudi has previously been arrested at least three times by security forces and has served two prior prison sentences issued by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
