Hamidreza Eftekhari detained; transferred to Great Tehran Penitentiary

Hamidreza Eftekhari, a resident of Golestan city in Tehran province, has been transferred to Great Tehran Penitentiary following his arrest by security forces and remains in a state of legal uncertainty.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, security forces raided Eftekhari’s home in Golestan and detained him at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, without presenting a warrant. He was initially taken to an undisclosed location.

An informed source told Hengaw that Eftekhari, 43, was arrested inside his home during the raid.

Two days after his arrest, Eftekhari briefly contacted his family by phone on Wednesday, February 25, informing them that he had been transferred to Great Tehran Penitentiary.

No precise information is available regarding the reasons for his detention, the authority responsible for the arrest, or the charges against him. Efforts by his family to obtain information about his legal status have so far remained unsuccessful.
