Iranian intelligence forces arrested Baloch man Shahim Bahrami in Nikshahr shortly after his return from Oman and transferred him to Zahedan Central Prison. Judicial authorities cited “activity on social media” as the reason for his arrest.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Bahrami was arrested on Friday, May 8, 2026, after returning from Oman. He was detained by agents of the Intelligence Department in Nikshahr and subsequently transferred to Zahedan.

According to Rasank News Agency, plainclothes agents raided his family home in the village of Karpadin, located in the Mokht district, without presenting a warrant before arresting him. He was later transferred to a detention facility operated by the Intelligence Department in Zahedan.

Shahim Bahrami, 30, is the father of four children. Informed sources stated that he suffers from mental health issues and had worked in Oman in recent years as a fruit vendor.

According to his family, judicial authorities in Nikshahr told them that the arrest was linked to his social media activity. His family, however, emphasized that he has no affiliation with any political group or movement and described his online activity as purely personal and influenced by his mental health condition.
