Ataollah Nah’tani detained in Zahedan, beaten in custody

A 27-year-old Baloch man, idenified as Ataollah Nah’tani, has been held for more than three weeks after being detained by Iranian security forces in Zahedan and was severely beaten in custody.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Ataollah Nah’tani, also known as Shahab Nah’tani, was detained in Zahedan on June 16, 2026, without authorities presenting a warrant.

Informed sources report that Nah’tani was severely beaten after being transferred to a detention facility.

The reasons for his detention, any charges against him and his whereabouts remain unknown.
