Fate of two Balochs remains unknown following arrests in Mehrestan and Zahedan

Two Baloch men, identified as Khorshid Hamli and Yaser Shahbakhsh, have been arrested by Iranian government forces in the cities of Mehrestan and Zahedan, and no information has since been made available regarding their whereabouts or fate.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Khorshid Hamli, a 22-year-old resident of Sarenjedan village in Mehrestan County, was arrested on Saturday, May 23, 2026, after government forces raided his family home in the village of Hizabad. He was subsequently transferred to Saravan.
According to the Balochistan Human Rights Documentation Network, no information has been made available regarding Hamli’s condition or whereabouts despite 15 days having passed since his arrest.
In a separate case, Yaser Shahbakhsh, a 27-year-old resident of Zahedan, was arrested by government forces in mid-May 2026 and transferred to an undisclosed location.
Nearly one month after his arrest, repeated efforts by Shahbakhsh’s family to obtain information about his condition and whereabouts have yielded no results.
No information is available regarding the reasons for the arrests, the charges brought against the two men, or their current status.
